On the back of our PPP success, we are now growing our KDP5 Framework team in Cumbria, delivering another crucial, major project at Sellafield. We’re actively looking for diligent and dedicated Quality Engineers to oversee Quality Control and Assurance for our Whitehaven based team.



• Your work will be executed under the supervision of the Project Quality Lead, ensuring consistent collaboration and outcomes across the quality team
• You’ll perform quality control and quality assurance tasks, prepare standard documents and assist in contributing to projects, as appropriate.
• You’ll receive specific technical instructions and operate in accordance with Business Operating Procedures (BOPs), Work Instructions (WIs) and support and guidance from the Project Quality Lead.
• You’ll be able to identify any non-conformance and assist in solving problems using your developed knowledge of quality processes and procedures.
• You’ll need demonstrable experience within a similar role, ideally within a busy and precise project environment. Pipework fabrication and installation experience preferred but not essential.
• You’ll need relevant, demonstrable industry experience, good working knowledge of standard quality principles, theories and practices.

Role & Responsibility

 

  1. Execution: Build a basic understanding of company-wide and functional codes, standards and working practices in order to perform basic quality tasks in line with BOPs and WIs. Provide a support service as required by the Site Manager/Project Manager/Quality Manager/proposal lead in the provision of technical quality information. Independently and proactively prepare Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans to suit the requirements of the customer/contract. Identify Error Traps and implement Error Prevention Tools to reduce instances of predictable error.

Governance: Comply with national laws/regulations, follow appropriate delivery processes (e.g. Service Delivery Process, EPC) and adhere to company-wide & functional BOPs and WIs to act in line with standardised working practices. Assist with (and be able to conduct) quality audits, investigations/inspections, identifying non-compliance with the quality management system and customer quality arrangements
  1. Innovation Be aware of the need for development innovation at more senior levels and begin to build an awareness of expectations in this area in order to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  1. Communication: Understand the need for networking and begin to build up a basic internal relationship network in order to leverage expertise, influence decision making and satisfy requirements. Actively promote the QHSE management system to reduce non-conformance/defects and enhance profitability.
  1. People Development: Take accountability for their own personal development record as part of Altrad Babcock’s talent management ethos.

Job Requirement

 

Academic, or vocational qualification i.e. ONC/HNC/HND (preferably in a related subject) or equivalent, significant and related professional experience plus accredited training qualifying towards registration (e.g. Practitioner Member) of a recognised professional institution (e.g. CQI) would be preferred

2.   Knowledge and application of BS EN ISO 9000 series,  EN12952 , PED 97/23/EC; EN1090;DIN EN ISO 3834-2 (EN 729-2)  ASME I, VIII; ANSI B31 and other sector specific Quality Standards (e.g. NQA-1; GQAS; IAEA GS-R-3 for Nuclear Quality)

3.   Knowledge and application of the QHSE Management System

4.   Effective application of codes and standards related to inspection requirements and Quality procedures

5.   Interpretation of drawings, procedures and specifications for appropriate discipline

6.   Specific vocational certification is preferred e.g. IOSH Managing Safely certification
