As an Indirect Category Manager, you will represent the Procurement organization on all projects and manage and support the procurement of materials and services. You will support internal customers in all aspects of the procurement process. In addition, you will develop commodity strategies and work collaboratively with internal customers, Accounts Payable, Legal, and Sourcing leadership to ensure quality execution.

Role & Responsibility

The successful candidate may be responsible for managing multiple commodities within the Indirect Sourcing team within the Procurement organization and have duties which include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for providing timely internal customer support, research, and problem solving
  • Responsible for executing activities associated procurement processes, which may include but are not limited to, conducting competitive bidding, negotiations, and developing/executing contracts
  • Develop and implement category/commodity strategies to achieve ongoing cost, quality, and delivery improvements. Determining and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned commodities, contracts, and/or suppliers
  • Solicit quotes and cost estimates
  • Assist Accounts Payable with invoice resolution
  • Conduct RFx’s independently 
  • Conduct activities with suppliers to ensure compliance to contracts and/or required service levels
  • Build strong value adding relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross-functional departments.
  • Understand internal customer forecasts and supplier capabilities to meet as required
  • Purchase goods and services under well-defined specifications and standards and within budget requirements
  • Create Purchase Orders with timeliness and accuracy (delivery date, pricing, payment terms, etc.)
  • Evaluate supplier conformance to contracts and purchase orders, conduct follow up and supplier performance improvement activities as required
  • Interact and provide timely updates regarding critical/key market or supplier issues to Commodity Manager(s) and Sourcing leadership 
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, assist stakeholders with navigating the procurement process
  • Travel as required to support customer and supplier relationships
     

Job Requirement

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field 
  • Experience: 2-5 years in Sourcing
  • Proficient in common Sourcing activities, including but not limited to, contract management, negotiations, RFx development, supplier evaluation
  • Proficiency in Data Analysis and Project Management
  • Travel Required: 10%-25%
  • Must be able to communicate (written/verbal) with everyone within an organization from persons on the shop floor to CEOs of major corporations
  • Must practice good judgement which allows the individual to commit to the most appropriate action after considering alternate courses of action
  • Proficient PC and Microsoft Office skills; excellent skill level in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to work independently and complete activities minimal/no-direct supervision
