Metallurgist (Level DOE)

Job Information

Doosan Bobcat is looking for a highly motivated individual to join us as a Metallurgist to provide internal metallurgical services and manage external consultant services across multiple disciplines, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement.

In this role you will provide metallurgical guidance to internal departments.   Utilize knowledge and experience to interpret analysis results, assess internal processes, process failure root cause and provide solution recommendations.  Maintain and manage external metallurgy services and consulting relationships.  Create and manage internal material, process, and verification standards.  Consult on material specifications and processes for design and manufacturing. Manage metallurgical workflow and report database.

Role & Responsibility

Metallurgist Strategy

• Consult and develop standards where applicable
• Develop procedures that verify our manufacturing processes and parts
• Provide internal measurement teams guidance for the execution of metallurgy sampling plans at multiple factories
• Coordinate and execute cross functional reviews for metallurgy related items
• Develop insource vs outsource metallurgy capability strategy
• Support procurement and execution of metallurgy control plans & equipment
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external industry subject matter experts
• Work with supply chain to solve product material issues of supplied parts
• Work with manufacturing engineers to develop welding and heat treatment processes
• Provide Metallurgical analysis report interpretation, root cause analysis, and solution recommendations

• Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications
• Knowledge of steels, cast iron, and aluminum, welding and various heat treatment processes 
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence decision making and successfully drive change initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to execute/deliver results and drive strategy/planning
• Excellent communication skills 
• BS in Metallurgy or Material Science or equivalent, MS preferred
• Prior metallurgy experience preferred
• 10-24% travel
