Job Information

The Test Engineer will devise, set up, and conduct laboratory and field tests of newly developed and existing products, translate technical guidance received from the supervisor and product design personnel into useable data applicable to particular engineering assignments, and coordinate activities of contract personnel, co-ops, and technicians in gathering data and conducting tests.

Role & Responsibility

 

Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Testing:

  • Train with current personnel and industry experts in the field of sound and vibration data acquisition and analysis.
  • Evaluate the sound level of bystander and operator positions on all Bobcat equipment. 
  • Develop improvements in operator comfort on all Bobcat equipment. 
  • Interpret worldwide governing sound-level standards and ensure all Bobcat equipment meets or exceeds them.
     

Supervise Co-ops and/or Engineering Technicians

  • May supervise and assist in the training and development of co-ops and engineering technicians.
     

Additional Responsibilities

  • Structural fatigue life analysis through internal life prediction methods.
  • Laboratory fatigue testing of components aided by damage comparison tools. 
  • Product specifications and performance testing for marketing and sales literature. 
  • Hydraulic component performance and durability testing. 
  • Preparation and ongoing review of products for durability testing at proving grounds. 
  • Cooling performance testing. 
  • Coordinate tests and communicate status with product design engineers. 
  • Make recommendations regarding product design, materials, or other specifications based on test results and sound engineering principles and theories. 
  • Work with contract test laboratories.

 

Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering- General, Mechanical, Argiculture 
  • Experience Required: 0-2+ years
  • Travel Required <10%
  • Strong applied mechanical and engineering skills and a willingness to use them.
  • Experience with operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Experience with test and validation methods preferred.
  • Understanding of the theory and design of Company products.
  • Promote safe workplace activities from equipment operation to day-to-day activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Competency with MS Office Suite.
