Material Handler - Yard

Job Information

Objective of a Material Handler - Yard is to transfer equipment such as compact tractors, air compressors, generators, etc from the yard by driving equipment back to shipping and loading it onto a trailer for shipment.

Shift: 7:00AM-3:30PM, Monday-Friday with additional overtime, as needed.

Role & Responsibility

  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device attached to hoist.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids or lifting device by hand as needed.
  • Loads parts manually from racks, tubs, and/or bins in warehouse to trays or racks kit carts.
  • Follows set route through department to load kit carts.
  • Loads and unloads parts manually from paint line.
  • Maintains safety checks on necessary equipment.
  • Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations. 
  • Uses electronic scanner to transact material as needed.



  • Keeps aisles clean and orderly.
  • Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.
  • Completes preventative maintenance and other duties as directed by Total Production Maintenance.
  • Perform other non-essential duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirement

Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time.  

  • 0>2 years experience
  • The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.
  • Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.
  • General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations or assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations or assignments.



Work is performed in a shop environment.  Conditions include proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection, exposure to vibration through the use of tools and equipment and slippery and sloping surfaces and uneven terrain.  Subject to air and skin exposures to chemical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases. Required to wear personal protective equipment.  


The overall level of work is defined as medium duty.  Employees are expected to exert 21 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 11 to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an all inclusive list of responsibilities, duties and requirements for this position
