Job Information

Under direction of supervisor, interpret and apply broad instructions to plan, assign and check work of Material group employees. Exercise judgement to resolve unusual discrepancies, determine inventory requirements, and assign work. Use computer programs to generate and interpret data and to make relevant reports. Assist supervisor and/or provide technical leadership for a group engaged in ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and transporting (both internally and externally) parts, materials, tools, and equipment. Resolve problems associated with the groups functions. Identify opportunities to improve methods and utilize work group skills considering all aspects of the operation, and recommend changes to improve costs, quality, accuracy and service. Perform all jobs within the group as needed. Properly maintain tools and equipment and maintain a safe, clean and comfortable work environment. 

Role & Responsibility

  • Assign work to maintain efficient flow of materials from internal and external sources to assure all such material is properly accounted for as inventory in the Materials systems.
  • Meet changing priorities and best utilize individuals’ skills.
  • Utilize computer programs to enter, retrieve and store information, to generate and interpret data and to make reports.
  • Schedule and record metal scrap sent out for reclamation.
  • Investigate and resolve unusual and unique discrepancies in the inventory and recommend changes to prevent recurrences.
  • Monitor input data to assure proper methods are being adhered to, and review records of transactions to locate lost misplaced and unaccounted-for materials and parts for effective cost accountability and inventory reconciliation.
  • Follow-up to assure corrective actions are implemented and effectively deployed.
  • Instruct group in proper material movement and storage procedures, applicable computer programs and usage proper use and care of equipment, and good housekeeping and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate the training and development of employees in the group with respect to the groups personal and professional development.
  • Perform specialized assignments in support of the Materials organization, and collaborate effectively with other groups associated with the assignments.

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Requires well-rounded knowledge of inventory control principles, processes and tools
  • Equivalent to specialized training in production control, inventory planning and control, and scheduling
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Work in a factory/manufacturing environment
  • Work with inventory and production control data systems

Knowledge & Skill

  • Requires familiarity with manufacturing practices, tooling drawings and specifications
  • Accuracy and detail focused
  • Proficiency with utilization of data processing tools and methods, computer programs and auditing practices applicable to scheduling, inventory and production control
