Job Information
Responsible for leading day-to-day quality assurance activities, quality system execution, and cross-functional problem solving for manufacturing, product development, and supplier quality matters. The role is expected to translate customer, engineering, ISO 9001, and product requirements into practical inspection plans, audit actions, corrective actions, and supplier quality controls. This position will serve as a senior Quality representative for assigned programs or projects, drive timely containment and root-cause resolution of nonconformances, support new supplier and part development, and ensure quality records, special requirements, and customer commitments are completed accurately and on time.
Role & Responsibility
- Own quality planning and execution for assigned products, programs, projects, or production areas. Maintain and deploy ISO 9001 / ASME / Quality Management System requirements, including procedures, work instructions, quality records, and audit follow-up items.
- Convert customer specifications, engineering drawings, product requirements, and special requirements into inspection criteria, control plans, and quality checkpoints.
- Ensure customer quality commitments are met by monitoring nonconformances, audit findings, quality escapes, and open corrective actions.
- Manage quality KPIs of incoming parts, internal manufacturing and final product.
- Provide quality support in a timely manner to resolve quality issues during manufacturing and test process.
- Support budget, resource, and priority discussions by providing fact-based quality risks, containment needs, and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Service, and Program teams to resolve quality issues during production, new product introduction, and supplier development.
- Lead or support PPAP, FMEA, Gauge R&R, process control plan, source inspection, incoming inspection, and supplier audit activities including overseas supplier.
- Develop quality verification plan for new part and new supplier qualification including setting up quality documentation package.
- Work directly with suppliers to investigate defects, confirm containment, review corrective action plans, and verify effectiveness.
- Provide clear quality requirements to internal teams and suppliers before release, build, shipment, or customer submission.
- Coordinate cross-functional actions to ensure owners, due dates, escalation points, and closure evidence are clearly documented.
- Develop receiving, In-process and final inspection plan and provide training to inspectors.
- Lead structured problem solving for internal, supplier, and customer quality issues using root-cause analysis, corrective action, preventive action, and mistake-proofing methods.
- Analyze inspection results, audit observations, defect trends, warranty/service inputs, and COPQ drivers to identify priority improvement areas.
- Drive timely containment, disposition, and corrective action closure for nonconforming materials, components, assemblies, and processes.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective actions through follow-up audits, data review, process confirmation, and documented evidence.
- Communicate quality risks, status, decisions needed, and recommended countermeasures in a concise, data-supported manner.
Job Requirement
Education & Experience:
- BA/BS with 5-8+ years of experience.
- MA/MS with 4-6+ years of experience.
- PhD with 1-2+ years of experience.
- Engineering or Quality Assurance degree discipline required.
- Multiple years of experience supporting a quality organization in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with PPAP, FMEAs, Gauge R&Rs, and Process Control Plans.
- Experience working with suppliers and supplier quality.
- Quality support for new supplier and part development.
Knowledge & Skill:
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / Quality Management System requirements and practical deployment in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, customer requirements, inspection criteria, industry standards, and change-control requirements.
- Practical experience with PPAP, FMEA, Gauge R&R, process control plans, inspection planning, nonconformance disposition, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and supplier quality methods.
- Ability to develop and maintain quality plans for new products, new suppliers, new parts, or process changes.
- Strong data analysis capability using quality records, defect trends, audit results, and operational inputs to prioritize actions and verify effectiveness.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data review, PowerPoint for management communication, and Word for controlled quality documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical quality issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organization, follow-up, and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple quality issues, audits, suppliers, and project deliverables simultaneously.
