Job information

Responsible for inspection and testing of incoming materials, materials in process, completed materials and inspection at supplier sites as needed. Prepare and complete internal and supplier related inspection documentation and corrective action reports. Perform gage calibration of inspection equipment and maintain gage calibration software. Document all inspections activities in compliance with Doosan quality policy standards and requirements. Identify efficiency, cost and quality improvement opportunities, and elevate for further assessment or implementation consideration.

Role & Responsibility

• Work from drawings and general instructions to plan and perform work which is process-defined or where only general operating methods are available and some ingenuity, initiative and judgement are required to inspect production or developmental parts, tools, gages and other equipment.
• Plan and perform inspection operations using existing and/or new or changed equipment including computerized measuring machines where programs may require modification to determine if materials meet specifications.
• Carry-out Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other similar quality assurance programs and processes to assure the manufacture of quality parts.
• Provide creative and thoughtful input to improve processes, methods and products.
• Provides suggestions for improvement in processes, methods and products.
• Makes decisions or elevates matters that are relevant and timely.
• Accurately assesses the quality implications of new information or events which may evoke a change to tooling or process.
• Focuses resolution on root cause analysis and assures lessons learned are converted to changes in process or standard work.
• Considers and suggests alternative solutions when defines paths meet resistance.
• Applies root cause techniques when faced with problems and uses knowledge gained to mistake-proof the process.
• Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.

Job requirements

Education & Experience

• AA/AS or equivalent.
• ISO Standards – ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 are a plus.
• Knowledge of machine shop and related practices, processes, methods and techniques and tool design principles.
• Work from complicated drawings and make calculations using advanced shop mathematics.
• Attention to detail Strong mathematics skills.
• Solid documentation skills and practices.
• Intense visual and mental attention on job at hand to assure completeness and accuracy.
• Performance of overall quality assurance activities.
• Experience with ISO in a high-volume production environment.
• Accountability for quality assurance of manufacturing materials.
• Performance of gage calibration of inspection equipment.

• Responsible for accurate, timely and cost-effective inspection and testing of incoming materials as well as inspection at supplier sites as may be needed. 
• Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills.
• Focus resolution on root cause analysis and use knowledge gained to mistake-proof the process.
• Generates alternative solutions when defined paths meet resistance.
• Under direction of immediate supervisor and/or Senior Technician, plan and layout work in inspecting complicated parts, tools and equipment and determining changes in methods required to produce parts to specification. Exercise a high degree of originality and resourcefulness to visualize highly involved and complicated projects and plan the phases of the work.
• Concentrated mental and visual attention required for extended periods to plan and layout work investigate complex machining problems, and arrive at solutions to the problem.
• Understand and promote the values of The Doosan Way, the Credo and Inhwa to maximize personal success, employee engagement and teamwork across the business, in support of Doosan’s people and business goals.
