Job Information

 

HyAxiom is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Site Solutions to develop, qualify, and maintain standardized electrical solutions for fuel cell power generation systems. This role leads product validation, controls integration testing, CHIL qualification, and electrical architecture development while serving as the primary interface with electrical equipment suppliers and integration partners.

 

The successful candidate will support product development, establish repeatable deployment standards, qualify new technologies, and ensure electrical systems are thoroughly validated prior to field deployment.

Role & Responsibility

 

Product Qualification, Validation & Testing

 

  • Lead electrical system validation for existing and future fuel cell integrated solutions.
  • Develop and execute qualification plans for electrical, controls, communications, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Define test procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation documentation.
  • Support certification, compliance, and utility acceptance testing.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain traceability between product requirements, testing, and field performance.

 

Standard Solution Development

 

  • Develop and maintain standardized electrical solutions for M400 and future products.
  • Create reusable solution packages including: Single-line diagrams, Utility interconnection configurations, Protection schemes, Medium-voltage, distribution designs, Switchgear and transformer standards, Controls and communications interfaces
  • Develop design guides, specifications, and deployment standards.
  • Reduce project-specific engineering through standardized solutions.
  • Support development of data center, utility, microgrid, and industrial solution offerings.

 

Electrical Vendor & Technology Management

 

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with electrical equipment suppliers.
    • Lead technical engagement with vendors supplying equipment such as: Switchgear, Protective relays, Transformers, Control systems, SCADA and communications equipment, Power conversion equipment
  • Review supplier designs, qualification data, and compliance documentation.
  • Support equipment selection and standardization efforts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for future solution offerings.

 

Product & Technology Development

 

  • Support development of future fuel cell, microgrid, and energy storage solutions.
  • Identify improvements to electrical architecture, controls integration, reliability, and cost.
  • Participate in product roadmap and technology assessments.
  • Provide electrical engineering expertise to product development teams.

 

CHIL (Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop) Qualification

 

  • Own development and execution of CHIL testing programs.
  • Establish automated and repeatable validation procedures.
  • Validate system operation during events such as: Grid-connected operation, Islanded operation, Utility disturbances, Black start conditions, Communication failures, Protection events , Equipment fault scenarios
  • Coordinate testing with controls, software, and engineering teams.
  • Maintain regression testing programs supporting software releases.

 

Project & Field Support

 

  • Support project execution teams during deployment activities.
  • Review EPC electrical designs for compliance with HyAxiom standards.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities as required.
  • Investigate field issues and support corrective actions.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into future standards and qualification plans.

Job Requirement - Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in power systems, distributed generation, industrial controls, microgrids, or power generation.
  • Experience with electrical architecture development and controls integration.
  • Experience planning and executing product qualification and validation testing.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Medium-voltage power systems
    • Protection and coordination
    • Utility interconnection
    • Industrial controls
    • SCADA and communication networks
  • Experience working directly with electrical equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications (preferred)

 

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with CHIL, PHIL, RTDS, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with fuel cells, microgrids, battery energy storage systems, or distributed generation.
  • Familiarity with UL, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, NEC, NFPA, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Experience with ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, PSCAD, AutoCAD or similar modeling tools.
  • Experience with
  • Experience leading supplier qualification and hardware validation programs.

Other

 

  • Occasional travel to customer sites for site surveys, project coordination, and construction oversight.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, with some physical site inspections and involvement in the construction process.
