Job Information
The CNC Set-Up Operator is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the CNC machining centers supporting molded component fabrication. Includes ability to start and re-start equipment after a machining cycle interruption. Requires in-depth knowledge of the machining center equipment to troubleshoot and restart, re-enable and repair a variety of stoppages and other machining difficulties on a variety of machines and equipment. Entails ability to interpret and translate 2D engineering designs and read machine program codes. Involves close interaction and periodic interchange with a variety of engineering disciplines and hourly functions. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, quality-focused team environment is essential. Actively participate in process-improvement teams, and maintain a safe, clean and comfortable work environment.
Role & Responsibility
- Under direction from supervisor, manufacturing engineer or lead, work from written and verbal instructions to perform duties to compete a wide variety of complicated machine set-ups.
- Perform standard fabrication and assembly work to meet production schedules and manufacturing goals, as needed, and based on volume and priority of set-up requirements.
- Set-up and load cutting tools, holding fixtures and materials on machine.
- Read and interpret CNC programs. (Okuma & Fanuc controls, and with any changes going forward)
- Perform quality checks during production runs by visually observing the condition of finished units from various machines.
- Consider and propose improvised or new methods and recommend altered tooling and processes to meet/exceed engineering requirements for new and changed processes.
- Assure others are exposed and trained to perform essential requirements of this role.

Job Requirement
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of experience operating/setting-up CNC equipment
- Experience in a manufacturing/factory environment
Knowledge & Skill
- Machinist skills and abilities
- Schematics, drawings and specification exposures
- Machining program codes
- Math and computer skills
- Good communications and organizational skills
