Job Information
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHS Manager) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs to drive and further enhance a culture of safety, which includes proactively reducing risks and injuries, improving ergonomics, implementing strong corrective actions, providing training and more.
This EHS Manager will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and will work collaboratively with various departments to enhance environmental, health and safety performance and drive continuous improvement.
Role & Responsibility
Safety Strategy
- Design, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with site leaders to ensure implementation of EHS programs and systems.
- Execute EHS strategic objectives to ensure operational excellence and meeting desired outcomes.
- Engagement in the safety vision and culture through implementation of EHS processes and procedures.
- Implement and support trainings to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in production department safety meetings.
- Ensure strategic company initiatives are implemented properly, prepare, and distribute documentation, and catalog incident reporting.
Risk Management
- Ensure that all reported, incidents, near misses, hazards, and nonconformances are investigated.
- Manage safety audit programs and publish audit findings reports.
- Manage the facility chemical database program.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations.
- Investigate incidents and establish corrective actions.
- Evaluate facility changes for risk and ensure effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct workplace job hazard assessments to ensure safe work practices.
- Audit EHS policies for regulatory compliance.
- Maintain facility emergency action plans.
- Coordinate facility emergency response drills.
- Manage industrial hygiene programs.
- Establish facility audit processes.
- Maintain EHS programs and processes and evaluate for effectiveness.
Change Management & Continuous improvement
- Participate in corporate EHS council meeting to contribute to the EHS vision & long-term planning.
- Foster a learning and development environment that encourages continuous improvement through safety education and training for all employees.
- Develop and implement ergonomic improvement strategies.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve site EHS performance.
- Utilize internal data and investigate industry best practices to continually enhance EHS programs.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Science, or Engineering preferred; or equivalent level of education and experience.
- 7-10 years’ experience in EHS preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, experience leading multi-site team preferred.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, ISO preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety regional regulations.
- Experience with EHS management systems and software programs.
- Experience with labor union workforces.
- Experience with managing emergency response MX “brigades” USA “emergency response team”.
- Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation management.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver presentations and training sessions .
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong attention to accuracy.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others.
- Travel: 10-25%.
- Facility operations are 24/7: incidents may require attention outside of regular work hours.
