We are currently recruiting for a Subcontracts Manager to support our Process & Energy sector on a recently awarded project. 

Duties Will Include

  • The BP NZT Project requires Commercial/ Sub-contract/ Procurement support following the successful award of the FEED Contract. 
  • Whilst the role will be wide ranging, the primary role will be to support and implement the overall development of the procurement / Subcontract strategy and to ensure it meet the needs of the project.
  • The successfully candidate shall work with the team to identify the appropriate procurement and supply chain strategies to enable successful delivery of the project.
  • They shall also prepare the tender documentation and analyse the tender returns such that to provide input into the Class 3 Estimate and subsequently the full EPC Price. 
  • Responsible for all commercial and supply chain risk management and reporting for sector project procurement activites.
  • Ensure Project Procurement key documents are maintained and reported on. (Procurement Strategy, Cost Report, Procurement Tracker etc).
  • Will also be required to place several orders to certain key subcontractors during the FEED and it is imperative that Doosan Babcock complies fully with the requirements and obligations of the FEED Contract and as such the terms and conditions are stepped down correctly.
  • The successful candidate will support the Project Manager and the Commercial Manager in executing their duties in respect to adherence to Contract Conditions and align with company operating procedures.

Key Competencies

  • Has experience in working on large scale mechanical engineering projects (including civils)
  • Has experience of procurement of large-scale subcontract packages (£25-100m).
  • Has experience of estimating for large scale mechanical engineering projects
  • Has experience of reviewing contracts and its applicable T&C’s with the supply chain.
  • Provide expert knowledge of sector specific supply markets and bring insight and introduce innovative approaches or ways of working to optimize delivery.
  • Team working aptitude and ability to develop interpersonal relationships both internally and externally
  • Actively seek innovative solutions to problems and identify/evaluate competitive sources to meet the company’s commercial objectives. Participate in, and lead review sessions/lessons learned to identify improvement opportunities


As Subcontract Manager, you will have a Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. You will have appropriate experience of working on large scale Engineering / Power / packages for EPC Projects. A proven track record as working as part of a team to execute multi-disciplined EPC projects from inception through completion.  You will have experience in negotiation and control of external equipment and services suppliers and contractors. It is desirable (not essential) if the candidate has previously worked as part of a consortium.
