We are currently recruiting for a Head of Materials Control to lead a dispersed team of Materials Controllers and Stores personnel across the various Doosan Babcock sites and projects. The role will include further developing processes and tools to meet the demands of our projects from low level pipework assemblies to major components within large complex projects.

 

Duties include

 

  • Lead the development, delivery and maintenance of end to end material control tools and processes across the Doosan Babcock organisation. Process to be capable of providing full traceability only where required.
  • Will be nominated as “Technical Responsible” for Materials Control and responsible for continuous development of processes and tools to meet company needs.
  • Provide the Director of Procurement specific input required to be reflected in overall Procurement Strategy.
  • Member of Procurement Senior Management Team, chaired by Director of Procurement, with other dept peers, namely Heads of Project Procurement, Operational Procurement, Subcontracting, Logistics & Expediting
  • Liaise with business unit to ensure suitability of Materials Control & Stores service provision (note majority of staff are located within the company’s business units, so close liaison required to influence behaviours and service capability)
  • Responsible for resource utilisation and billable hours of Materials Controllers & Stores Personnel. Long Range resource planning and deployment of Materials Control resources (short term is dealt with largely by business units & their projects).
  • Participate with Business Unit line managers in annual assessment of MC Personnel, development of such and hire of new personnel.

 

We are looking for a Materials Control specialist with strong experience in a similar role within the energy sector or heavy engineering. Applicants should hold a relevant professional membership and possess previous experience working in a business management position. 

 

Candidates should have past experience of managing operational delivery teams as well as experience of setting up project specific Materials Management processes to address client requirements. Previous Material Control, Stock Management or Production Planning experience within a relevant setting is essential.
