We’re actively looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Materials Control Manager to support multiple projects across our Nuclear, Energy and Renewables portfolio.

Your role will be to support, create processes and implement the co-ordination of inventory information between Engineering, Fabrication and our Site teams, supporting the management of an effective material control inventory catalogue, implementing and supporting the management of the inventory material control processes using our client’s procedures and inventory control and manufacturing Oracle system for any inventory controlled projects including Manufacturing, Construction or Service Sites.

 

 

Role & Responsibility

 

 

  • You will assume ultimately responsible for the Materials Management processes and dispersed team across a number of our current and developing projects.
  • Ensure the team work within the health and safety guide lines and are followed without exception.
  • Be an Oracle Fabrication and Inventory Management subject matter expert, providing Oracle and BOM creating and usage training.
  • Support with the setup of the Materials Management processes for new Projects for the client. Implementation and testing of new or existing processes on the Clients Inventory Management and Manufacturing Oracle system to support full material traceability through Engineering, Procurement, Purchasing, Expediting, Fabrication and Site installation / construction. Creating and maintaining the associated Work Instructions.
  • Support / set up and test the Project and Ship To Locations for inventory management and assuring costing’s are being posted against the Project.
  • To support / maintain Oracle set up for traceability of all material, components, equipment, consumables and plant through from item creation to installation or use for any inventory controlled project. The set up will include creating item numbers, managing item creation setup, bills of material, routings, job cards, pick lists and storage locations.
  • Support / set up and implement the processes for taking initial MTO’s (material take off’s) from Engineering and tracking what has been taken into consideration and creating subsequent MTO’s, going out for quotations and creating inventory requisitions in the Clients system.
  • Support / set up and implement the processes for the reading of Fabrication drawings and the splitting of the drawing into fabrication assemblies to create finished products and set Oracle up to achieve the process so full traceability of material and the fabrication processes can be achieved.
  • Set up / implement the processes and templates to create and maintain fabrication and construction bills of material for use in the fabrication facilities / site or for to import into the Clients Oracle system.
  • Support in setup of the storage locations and the logistics routes at the fabrication facility and site.  Taking into consideration the types of material, equipment, plant and consumables, avoidance of cross contamination and storage equipment and requirements.
  • Implement the Clients processes for the Receipt Inspection including quarantine, overages, shortages, defect and damage report compiling and system transactions.
  • Implement the processes for managing inventory and plant including preservation audits, equipment maintenance and periodic plant and lifting equipment inspections.
  • Support in the setup and running of required Client Reports.
  • Support, implement and carry out training of all preceding processes and the use of the Clients Inventory Management and Manufacturing Oracle system to the Project Materials Manager, Material Controllers and Store Persons.
  • There will be the need to travel UK wide with possibly some extended periods away from the main office to support implementations of inventory / material management systems on the sites as well as the training of site staff on Inventory Management and how to use the Oracle system and tools, to get the best possible outcome for the Projects.  There may also be a need to do on site supporting / co-ordination of materials for the projects and participating in material control audits across all sites.

Job Requirement

 

We're ideally looking for:                              

 

  • Institute of Operations Management (MIOM or comparable)
  • A Levels or High grades in Mathematics and English
  • A high level of IT skills (Microsoft office) is essential.
  • Previous experience of maintaining / operating Oracle, or other Inventory Management systems is essential. 
  • Previous leadership of implementing major ERM system such as Aveva
  • Previous Material Control, Stock Management or Production Planning experience in a Manufacturing, Engineering, Construction or Maintenance environment is essential.
  • Good communication skills will be required to communicate across all levels of the business including Clients.
  • Previous experience of working with fabrication or construction drawings and a good understanding of Bills of Material is essential.
  • There will be a need to be familiarise yourself with and work within / implement the clients business operating procedures and QA product control systems
