Position Summary: The Short Term Rental Sales Manager is responsible for driving rental revenue growth through the development and management of short term rental (STR) opportunities for the Rushlift MHE business. This role leads the commercial STR sales function, working closely with the Head of Assets & STR to ensure fleet availability, pricing strategy, and customer service levels are aligned with business targets. The role also collaborates with the STR admin team to ensure smooth execution of rehire, transport, and service-related needs. Additionally, the Sales Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining strong rehire partnerships with national hire companies to support fleet flexibility and customer responsiveness.
Job Purpose: To lead and grow the short term rental sales channel by developing strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, managing strategic rehire partnerships, and working collaboratively with internal teams to maximise rental performance and customer satisfaction.
Role & Responsibility
1. Rental Sales Strategy & Execution (40%)
- Drive short term rental revenue by identifying and converting rental opportunities across key sectors.
- Manage inbound and outbound sales activity, including customer quotes, negotiations, and contract closure.
- Support development of regional rental campaigns and tactical fleet promotions.
2. Customer Relationship Management (25%)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new STR customers.
- Ensure high levels of service responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the main point of contact for customer queries, pricing, and issue resolution.
3. Commercial & Pricing Management (15%)
- Work with Head of STR & Assets to develop pricing models that optimise revenue and utilisation.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform pricing and promotional strategies.
- Support margin improvement initiatives and value-added services.
4. Collaboration & Internal Coordination (15%)
- Liaise with STR admin, logistics, and service teams to ensure on-time delivery, rehire coordination, and equipment availability.
- Communicate upcoming rental demands and fleet requirements.
- Support asset disposal planning and upselling of used equipment.
5. Reporting & Forecasting (5%)
- Track sales pipeline and performance using CRM systems.
- Provide regular forecasts and revenue updates to management.
- Contribute to business planning and growth projections.
Job Requirement
Experience:
- Required: 5+ years in capital equipment, plant hire, or MHE rental sales
- Preferred: Experience in short term rental commercial environments with high-velocity fleet turnover
Skills:
- Strong B2B sales and negotiation skills
- Excellent relationship-building and account management capabilities
- Knowledge of asset-based rental or leasing models
- CRM and rental system proficiency
