The Senior Paralegal position will provide enterprise-wide legal assistance and will report to the Deputy General Counsel.  This role will be responsible for supporting all Law Department functions, including the registration and maintenance of Doosan Bobcat North America’s intellectual property (including patents, trademarks, copyrights and domains), litigation, corporate governance, and certain transactional activities.  In addition, this role will provide general administrative support to the entire North America legal team.  The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be knowledgeable about legal procedures and documentation, and have a deep understanding of various areas of legal issues.  This position is open to a location of Minneapolis, Minnesota or Atlanta, Georgia.

 

 

Role & Responsibility

The role will have a strong focus supporting Doosan Bobcat’s intellectual property assets and will also have general responsibilities supporting the Law Department’s Corporate and Litigation groups.  Specifically, the role will be responsible for the management of Doosan Bobcat’s intellectual property docket, maintenance fee and annuity management for the global IP portfolio, supporting brand licensing initiatives, and a number of trademark and patent prosecutorial supports task such as, for example: coordinating inventor declaration execution, information disclosure statement preparation, and preparation of trademark specimens of use, among other tasks associated with the day-to-day management of a large world-wide intellectual property portfolio.  The role will also be responsible for managing service of process and supporting litigation discovery and other litigation activities.  In addition, the role will support corporate and commercial legal matters through regulatory filings, contract management support, and other contracting activities. This includes: 

  • Support intellectual property preparation, prosecution and portfolio management.
  • Assist in the management of Company litigation to achieve positive litigation and dispute outcomes.
  • Primary management of service of process for the Company.
  • Assist in-house and outside counsel with discovery and document collection and review, including ESI, for the Company.
  • Support the legal team in managing corporate governance matters.
  • Assist with compliance efforts and regulatory filings.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to corporate and commercial law.
  • Maintain and organize legal files and documentation.
  • Assist in the Law Department’s management of legal bills and annual budgeting activities.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and other legal service providers as needed.
  • General administrative support of the Doosan Bobcat North America legal team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure legal compliance in business operations.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact the Company.
  • Travel Standard:  less than 10%.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or related field is preferred. Associate’s Degree plus equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of paralegal experience at law firm or in-house.
  • Previous experience working as a paralegal in a corporate legal environment preferred, experience in the manufacturing or engineering industry favored.
  • Experience supporting intellectual property matters strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of corporate and commercial law, contract law, and legal procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in legal software and document management systems.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
