Job Information

The Tooling Engineer or Specialist will design, coordinate, and implement specialized production machines, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Role & Responsibility

 

Process Analysis

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Cost optimization, increased quality, delivery, and safety index rate.
  • Guide tooling shop personnel, electricians, and maintenance personnel (including electronic technicians) during the build, assembly, and/or modification of a machine, jig, fixture, or die tooling.
  • Supervise and guide subordinates on designing, detailing, and layouts of special mechanisms, jigs, or fixtures as well as guide them in the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Design, purchase, build, and modify new and used machines.
  • Track your requisitions and purchase orders.

Problem-Solving  

  • Design and coordinate the design and implementation of specialized production machines, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or die tooling.
  • Design tools and equipment that meet the material flow and order of operations.
  • Produce, publish, and vault complete documentation for all tools.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid power, linear motion, and control systems.
  • Basic understanding of machining, stamping, assembly processes, and weld processes.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPI): Staff knowledge of Computer Aided Design, knowledge of machines, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

Job Requirement

Tooling Engineer:

  • Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 0-2+ years’ experience

  • Travel Requirements: 10 - 24 % travel to all company locations and vendors
     

Tool Engineering Specialist:

  • Relevant Experience and/or Bachelor's Degree preferred and/or 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or production function and has been exposed to production systems and material flow
  • Engineering - General
  • Business Administration
  • Product and industry knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • 2 - 5+ years experience
  • Travel Requirements: < 10% travel
