Job Information

Replaces and adjusts tools and fixtures of production machines and components in industrial setting using hand tools and precision measuring instruments, following specifications and applying knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and machine programming and maintenance.

Role & Responsibility

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Observes production equipment to detect malfunctions, need for adjustment and alignment or replacement of worn or broken tools and fixtures.
  2. Removes, replaces, adjusts and aligns components of machines and equipment using precision measuring equipment and hand tools.
  3. Enters instructions on programmable controller or robot controller to adjust speed, motion and alignment.
  4. Repairs and calibrates electronic measuring gauges.
  5. Operates machines to verify that repairs and adjustments and alignments have corrected problems and that machines function according to specifications.
  6. Disassembles, cleans and polishes machine components.
  7. Informs supervisor of machine malfunction and necessary action for repair.
  8. Performs all duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

 

  1. Keeps work area clean, orderly and follow 5S schedule.
  2. If applicable employee must be able to operate a walk behind forklift and a lift truck. Operators are required to maintain annual OSHA forklift training.
  3. Must fill out daily production sheets as well as the 5S metric boards for their specific cell.
  4. Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.
  5. Completes preventative maintenance and other duties as directed by Total Production Maintenance.
  6. Perform other non-essential duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly.  Must possess the ability to read blueprints.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 

The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.  Must possess general machine shop background.  Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.  General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations or assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations or assignments.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Work is performed in a shop environment.  Conditions include proximity to moving and mechanical parts, exposure to high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection and exposure to vibration through the use of tools and equipment.  Subject to air and skin exposures to chemical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases.  Required to wear personal protective equipment.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

The overall level of work is defined as medium duty.  Employees are expected to exert 21 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 11 to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
