Job Information

Responsible for individual contributions/leadership of a group engaged in the planning of technical design, system integration, cost/risk assessment and compliance assessment of technological systems. Collaboration with the product office to define system and component level requirement, and to develop an architecture that satisfies those requirements. Typical technically driven systems tasks include requirements management, concept design (including trade studies) steady-state mass/energy balance, dynamic modeling/analysis, failure mode analysis, control synthesis and verification/validation testing and analysis. The Systems group is involved throughout the entire product life cycle, from concept to field support. Accountable for the support of advancement of entire systems projects, programs, research, and operational results. A principal focus is the ongoing personal and career develop of the systems engineering staff. This role has direct concentration on leadership skills in conjunction with effective individual performance. Responsible for entire projects with significant scope/complexity. Has expert knowledge that extends across multi-disciplines.

Role & Responsibility

  • Lead/perform systems-focused tasks such as steady-state modeling, dynamic modeling, failure mode analysis/troubleshooting, control synthesis, and verification/validation testing
  • Focus on variance resolution utilizing root cause analysis/ensure lesson’s learned are captured in process revision/standard work
  • Proactively identify patterns in conflicting information/constructively resolve conflicts in a manner that minimizes impact/rework
  • Generate subsystem and component requirements from the established high level (parent) requirements
  • Determine if required compliance will be demonstrated by similarity, analysis/test
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines as required to coordinate systems activities and ensure accurate documentation
  • Ensure all systems work has been validated/documented prior to release
  • When quality issues arise in the factory/field, utilize techniques such as DIVE, Fault Tree, Red X, and Seven Diamonds to isolate root cause, mitigate and ensure the issue is corrected
  • Stay abreast of all external fuel cell design concepts/developments to maintain leading systems engineering edge, progress, and superior achievements
  • Ongoing focus on talent management/development for employee engagement/performance, and to elevate business results

Job Requirement-Education and Experience

  • BS degree with 6-10+ years of experience
  • MS degree with 4-7+ years of experience
  • PhD degree with 2-4+ years of experience
  • A leading expert in the field of Systems Engineering
  • Robust systems understanding/expertise
  • Solid mechanical or chemical engineering background
  • Fuel cell design engineering experience
  • Contribute to the company/industry by advancing the level of knowledge within the discipline
  • Excellent, demonstrable organizational/communication skills
  • Strong focus on teamwork/teambuilding/employee development
  • Solid computer/systems skills
  • Highly adaptable to change
  • Experience understanding/properly executing customer demands/requirements
  • Ability/experience working with a diverse group of technical and business-focused groups, occasionally on a global-basis
