Job Information

The Staff Reliability Engineer is responsible for generating product reliability requirements/metrics, decomposing requirements to component levels, estimating system reliability through modeling, identifying the high-risk components and subsystems, and performing Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) to minimize risks. Facilitate Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), lead Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA) and develop standard work and standard practices to incorporate reliability into the product development processes. Effectively collaborate to support product development processes to achieve Reliability-focused designs, design changes and processes, and work to actively promote a strong Reliability foundation across the organization. This role is focused on leadership skills, abilities and competencies, as well as Reliability technical expertise.

Role & Responsibility

  • Work with Business Development and Engineering to establish key Reliability metrics for new products
  • Model component and/or system level Reliability and Maintainability using modeling platforms recognized across the industry
  • Lead Life Data Analysis, Block Diagram builds, and Reliability Growth Analysis
  • Integrate reliability tasks based on ISO 9001:2015 into existing product development processes
  • Develop Accelerated Life Test (ALT) plans to estimate and/or demonstrate reliability of components
  • Utilize Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA) techniques
  • Drive and maintain Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard Analysis for products and processes
  • Generate reports on Reliability performance for Engineering leadership
  • Engage with Aftermarket and vendors to establish/maintain up-to-date failure rates and component life expectancies

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering with 7-10+ years of experience
  • MS degree in Engineering with 4-6+ years of experience (preferred)
  • Multiple years of industrial reliability engineering performance/experience
  • Root cause analysis
  • Leadership and/or participation in work teams assigned to a project or program with a reliability engineering element or focus

Knowledge & Skill

  • Full and deep knowledge of the fundamental of reliability engineering
  • Effective utilization of reliability software such as Reliasoft, or equivalent
  • Root Cause Corrective Action techniques and tools
  • Reliability modeling and prediction
