Job Information

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to lead the development of system designs integrating fuel cells with advanced fuel processing technologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy solutions, including fuel pre-treatment, carbon capture, exhaust cleanup, water purification, and purge gas controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fuel processing, chemical plant operations, and systems engineering. Familiarity with the product development process is essential, and expertise in compliance/risk matrices and design FMEA is highly desirable. Communication skills with customers and suppliers are key to success in this role.

Role & Responsibility

 

  • Develop system designs that integrate fuel cells with fuel processing technologies, including:
  • Fuel Pre-treatment Skids: Design systems for fuel purification and preparation.
  • Carbon Capture & Exhaust Cleanup: Implement solutions for CO2 capture and exhaust stream conditioning.
  • Water Treatment & Purification: Design water clean-up and recovery processes for system sustainability.
  • Purge Gas Controls: Develop effective purge mechanisms and controls for fuel systems.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to design and optimize fuel processing technologies.
  • Create control schemes to enhance system functionality and performance (controls experience is a plus).
  • Champion the product development process, including:
  • DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis): Lead risk identification and mitigation for fuel systems.
  • Compliance or Risk Matrix: Ensure all designs align with standards and mitigate product risks effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure technical alignment with customer needs.

Job Requirement

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in fuel processing or chemical plant processing is required.
  • Expertise in systems engineering practices, especially in control schemes, is preferred.
  • Experience with onsite power generation a plus.

 

Knowledge & Skill

  • Familiarity with industry-standard design processes like DFMEA and risk/compliance matrices.
  • Ability to analyze system functionality and develop solutions for optimization.
  • Knowledge of fuel cells or electrolyzers a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with both customers and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage complex projects.
