The Purchasing & Commodity Manager will own the Value Chain of assigned equipment as Player/Coach, driving strategic initiatives of the SCM group in support of overall business objectives and managing the tactical acquisition of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the Company. This position will focus on our Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment and report directly into Director of Supply Chain Management & Logistics

Role & Responsibility

  • Ownership and accountability of Value Chain for critical BOP equipment and serve as Supplier Relationship Manager for Key suppliers.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities of buyers and related staff who are involved in the purchasing processes.
  • Oversee and conduct negotiations with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
  • Key member in driving continuous improvement, establishing purchasing policies, and assuring compliance to elevate the success of the SCM functional group
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors are less than optimal or to support New Product Introduction (NPI) actions.
  • Control Purchasing Product costs to meet/exceed targets (as applicable).

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree with 7 + years of experience (MA/MS 5+).
  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM and CSCP, and APICS a plus

Knowledge and Skills

  • Overall purchasing, Commodity management and Supplier Relationship management to deliver on projects, programs and SCM support across and within functional areas.
  • Accountable for operational results within area of responsibility
  • Excellent communications and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and motivate SCM staff
  • Strong business acumen and financial background/strength
  • Advanced IT systems and MS Office skills
  • Understanding of legal contracts


  • Leadership and coaching of buyers responsible for their respective BOP equipment within SCM
  • Continuous improvement focus, training and overall mindset and management perspective.
  • Leading team on high impact projects and/or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Quality Focus: Ensure due diligence during supplier onboarding and management supplier relationships to maximize supplier quality of service and products.
  • Safety and Ethics: Compliance with the EH&S Policy, rules, and regulations. Responsible for compliance with the Doosan Code of Conduct, including exercise of the highest levels of integrity and ethics.
