Job Information

Responsible for technical leadership and support for overall systems design, development, and integration of mechanical, structural, and thermal systems. Performing structural analysis of various components in the Fuel Cell assembly. Utilitze all methods of analysis, define load cases, identify various stresses, interpret results, document and present results to cross functional team members. Lead and support the Design team in collaboration with other multi-discipline groups. Promote the Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Order Process, ensuring timely, controlled, and compliant design changes. May lead or participate in multi-disciplinary research and collaboration with equipment designers, hardware engineers, and others to pursue and achieve business objectives. Accountable for development, coaching, and mentorship of other team members to support career development. This position has direct concentration on the high-level, comprehensive, and up-to-date technical properties and processes associated with the structural design engineering discipline.

Role & Responsibility

  • Analyses of the structures including loads and dynamics, stress, stability, fatigue, and thermal.
  • Work closely with multiple design and development teams to achieve program objectives and to verify creative design solutions that meet all requirements.
  • Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications for all phases of the product life cycle.
  • Ensure the designs have been validated and thoroughly documented prior to production release.
  • Prepare reports and documentation of structural assessment activities and results. Work with suppliers and fabricators to support generation of low cost, durable designs.
  • Require use of root cause techniques to determine and enact mitigation/corrective actions going forward.
  • Ongoing focus on talent management and development to elevate employee engagement and performance.
  • Stay abreast of all external fuel cell design concepts and developments.

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of experience
  • Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Experience with properly executing customer requirements
  • Experience working with a diverse group of business-focused individuals, occasionally on a global-basis

Knowledge & Skill

  • Knowledge of fuel cell process technologies preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to use standard material and design standards from ASTM, ASME, ISO, AWS, and JIS
  • Experience with welded structures analysis
  • Proficiency with ANSYS, CREO, Windchill, and Mathcad preferred
  • Excellent, demonstrable organizational and communication skills and abilities
