Job Information

The Purchasing & Commodity Manager will manage the tactical acquisition of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the Company, and drive the strategic initiatives of the SCM group in support of overall business objectives.

Role & Responsibility

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of staff involved in purchasing processes.
  • Oversee negotiations with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
  • Establish purchasing policies and assure compliance.
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors are less than optimal.
  • Control Purchasing Department budgets to meet/exceed targets.
  • Communicate cross-functionally with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to provide information by telephone, in written form, e-mail, presentations, or in person.
  • Obtain information, by observing, receiving, and otherwise acquiring necessary information from all relevant sources.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and close operational gaps.
  • Make recommendations to improve quality, productivity, and operational efficiencies.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree with 6+ years of experience (MA/MS 4+)
  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM and CSCP, and APICS a plus
  • Leadership participation of business focused and SCM teams
  • Continuous improvement focus

Knowledge & Skill 

  • Responsibility for P&C management within organization
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and motivate SCM staff
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Advanced computer and MS Office skills
  • Understanding of legal contracts
