Job Information

Responsible for overall leadership of a group engaged in the design, verification, validation and integration of an integrated fuel processor for a highly efficient, high temperature hydrogen based fuel cell system. Lead and support the fuel processing team, in collaboration with other multi-discipline groups, with the development and commercialization of a fuel cell micro CHP system, with focus on all aspects of reactor design, analysis, model development and validation, prototype development, and characterization for an integrated fuel processor for a fuel cell system. May lead or participate in multi-disciplinary research and collaboration with equipment designers, hardware engineers, and others to pursue and achieve business objectives, on time, at cost with optimal quality. Has responsibility for entire systems, projects and programs, and is accountable for budget, staffing and operational results.

Role & Responsibility

  • Responsible for identification and evaluation of catalyst for reform reactor, water-gas shift reactor, hydro desulfurizer, etc.
  • Integrate fuel processing unit into a phosphoric acid fuel cell system and ensure high levels of efficiency and reliability.
  • Responsible for process control for the fuel process to assure proper start-up, shutdown, steady-state and transient operations.
  • Work with suppliers and fabricators to generate low cost, durable designs for fuel processing.
  • Demand use of root cause techniques to determine true root cause, and enact mitigation/corrective actions going forward.
  • Stays abreast of all external fuel cell and fuel processing concepts and developments to maintain leading edge progress and success.
  • Supervise, support, and develop fuel processor and systems engineers.
  • Ongoing focus on talent management and development to elevate employee engagement and performance, to elevate business results.

Job Requirement

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of experience
  • MA/MS degree with 7+ years of experience
  • PhD degree with 4+ years of experience
  • Chemical Engineering degree or other related degree
  • Experience with clearly understanding and properly executing customer demands/requirements
  • Ability and experience working with a diverse group of technical and business-focused individuals and groups, occasionally on a global-basis

Knowledge & Skill

  • Robust process and systems understanding, know-how and expertise
  • Solid chemical engineering background
  • Fuel cell and fuel processing experience preferred
  • Excellent, demonstrable organizational and communication skills and abilities
  • Strong focus on teamwork, teambuilding and employee development
  • Solid computer/systems skills
