Job Information

Contributor to Systems Engineering team, whose fundamental objective is to help design new products by integrating subsystems and identifying/mitigating risk while demonstrating compliance to product requirements. Includes collaboration with the product office to define system and component level requirement, and to develop an architecture that satisfies those requirements. Typical technically-driven systems tasks include requirements management, concept design including trade studies, steady-state mass and energy balance, dynamic modeling and analysis, failure mode analysis, control synthesis, and verification/validation testing. The Systems group is involved throughout the entire product life cycle, from concept to field support. This role is accountable for self-development due to limited experience within the discipline. Depends on others for guidance and direction. Assigned to small projects or discreet tasks within the discipline.

Role & Responsibility

  • Under guidance and direction, engage in performance of systems-focused tasks such as steady-state modeling, dynamic modeling, failure mode analysis/troubleshooting, control synthesis, and verification/validation testing.

  • With appropriate support, focus on variance resolution utilizing root cause analysis and ensure lesson’s learned are captured in process revision and standard work.

  • Acquire skills and know-how to proactively identify patterns in conflicting information and constructively resolve the conflict(s) in a manner that minimizes impact and rework.

  • With guidance, set challenging but achievable goals for self, seek support and direction from others, in addition to academic pursuits to enhance personal and professional growth and achievement.

  • With a partner or on a team, may support activity to conduct trade studies that compare concepts against one another in a quantifiable manner.

  • With direction, learn to establish control requirements pertaining to issues such as undershoot, overshoot and settling time.

  • When quality issues arise in the factory or the field, learn to effectively utilize techniques such as DIVE, Fault Tree, Red X, and Seven Diamonds to isolate root cause, mitigate the issue, and ensure the issue is corrected.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Still learning the fundamentals of the discipline.
  • Sound understanding of the basics and the principles of the discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of fuel cells and fuel cell technologies.
  • Some systems engineering understanding, know-how and experience.

Background

The position described above involves on-site work at office/test stand in East Hartford, CT. HyAxiom is committed to growing and supporting efforts associated with hydrogen economy.
