Job Information

 

Responsible for execution of the overall systems design, development and integration of mechanical, structural and thermal systems for the fuel cell systems. Support the system-level Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P & ID).  Utilize up-to-date Computer Aided Design (CAD) practices and tools are in place and will also develop analysis capabilities, which includes structural, thermal, and CFD tools. Support the Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Order Process, ensuring timely, controlled, and compliant design changes. Participate in multi-disciplinary collaboration with equipment designers, hardware engineers, and others to pursue and achieve business objectives, on time, at cost with optimal quality. Accountable for self-development, and actively supportive of the development of other team members. Has solid understanding of the fundamentals of the design discipline, while continuing to develop specialized knowledge in the manufacturing environment. Responsible for small projects or multi-tasks within the design discipline.

Job Requirement

 

  • Design components to meet all functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering functional disciplines to coordinate design activities and ensure thorough, accurate documentation of components and subassemblies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and other relevant business entities to coordinate implementation of new designs and develop transition plans to bridge between design revisions.
  • Ensure the designs have been validated and thoroughly documented prior to production release.
  • As may be required, work with suppliers and fabricators to support generation of low cost, durable designs.
  • Consistent use of root cause techniques to determine true root cause, and enact mitigation/corrective actions going forward.
  • Stay abreast of industry-wide fuel cell design concepts and developments to support leading technological edge, progress and achievements in the design discipline.
  • Able to execute on concept generation and down-select.
  • Work across multi-discipline groups to lead teams effectively and to share technical knowledge and know-how.
  • Ongoing focus on talent management and development of self and others to elevate employee engagement and performance, and to elevate business results.

Knowledge and Skill

 

  • Advanced knowledge of fuel cells and fuel cell process technologies.
  • Robust process and systems understanding, know-how and expertise.
  • Solid mechanical design engineering background.
  • Fuel cell design engineering experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with codes and standards for fuel cells and other distributed generation (DG) products.
  • Excellent, demonstrable organizational and communication skills and abilities.
  • Strong focus on teamwork, team building and employee development.
  • Solid computer/systems skills.
  • Highly adaptable to change.
  • Proficient with Autocad Inventor/Vault, and tools such as Fluent and Ansys preferred.
  • Has solid design knowledge that extends across disciplines.
  • Clear and compelling oral and written communications.
  • Experience with clearly understanding and properly executing customer demands/requirements.
  • Ability and experience working with a diverse group of technical and business-focused individuals. and groups, occasionally on a global-basis.
