Measurement Specialist NPD EMEA

Job Information

An integral part of the New Product Development Quality team, having a matrix responsibility for metrology topics and supporting the entire EMEA Bobcat business for metrology improvement and growth.  Work is undertaken in line with project development tasks and assignments. 

Role & Responsibility

Assess design requirements to develop measurement protocols for New Product Development of made and purchased parts:

- Drawing & technical specifications reviews

- GD&T Scheme verification from DE & ME

- Govern and guide the quality assurance though engagement and development of process, systems

Design and develop measurement methods and procedures for New Product Development parts: 

- Design/definition/selection of measurement fixtures, jigs & other measurement equipment (Calipers, Gauges)
- Define key differences between metrology(lab) room and shop floor measurement practices and properly address these with measurement plan
- Complete Measurements System Analysis (MSAs)

Collaborate with various groups for the execution of measurement plan and tasks from product launch phase to serial life production: 

- Early NPD engagement with DE for Prototype measurement plan
- Evolving control plan for each part as NPD programs progresses with ME & DE & supply chain
- Transition of NPD measurement procedures to the appropriate level of production measurement procedures to ensure product conformance

Problem solving support including measurement investigation and reverse engineering: 

- Ability to utilize equipment to aid in product tear downs, product and part evaluation, and reverse engineering
- Use of technical and problem-solving capabilities to aid in troubleshooting

Training and development planning for functional competency (in the field for industrial measurement & metrology): 

- Ability to select and present areas of knowledge and knowhow, development planning for key persons who will have responsibility to measure and control, test and check products in process or development

- Identify external bodies and sources with ability to bring permanent improvement to Bobcat teams

Measurement Planning and task management: 

- Management of measurement work order capacity
- Control KPIs and manage/delegate task based on flux and demands of measurement job orders / development
- Develop total plant plan of support for metrology growth
- Cost benefit analysis for future Equipment implementations

Lead role in the Center of excellence for EMEA (Global) industrial metrology: 

- Lead investment projects with clear ROI to business
- Global engagement with peers for strategic approach and alignment of EMEA metrology plans
- Partnership with class leading metrology companies & universities in industrial metrology including proof of concepts, strategy & vision
- Identify and execute benchmarking activities that support strategic plan and grow internal metrology capability
 

Job Requirement

Education & Qualification

Technical university graduate, or Secondary Technical School of Mechanical Engineering or Metrology

Knowledge & Skill

Measurement / Metrology related skills training, Engineering Mathematics. Engineering Science, Coordinate Metrology, Measurement Systems Analysis, Measurement Uncertainty, Applied GD&T.

Experience

•    >15 years in quality engineering related to APQP or production quality (5 years for Secondary Technical School of Mechanical Engineering)
•    Experience with metrology and parts inspection essential
•    Experience in design, quality or manufacturing engineering essential
