Hinkley Point marks a significant milestone in the next generation of nuclear power plants in the UK, this 3200mw power plant construction project is one of the largest undertaken in the UK in decades. As we work with our customer and as one of four major contractors in an alliance, we'll be ensuring that we deliver on time and on budget.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Procurement Manager who will be responsible for defining and successfully delivering the procurement activities associated with a specific sub-set of Doosan Babcock’s scope within the alliance. With ownership and accountability for successful project procurement delivery this is a long term opportunity in support of Nuclear New Build. Operating within a matrix managed environment you will report to the Project Procurement Lead for Nuclear and Project Delivery Team Lead on a project basis plus the Head of Project Procurement from a functional perspective.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Manage and lead the end to end procurement activity for the specified scope of work as defined by Project Procurement Lead for Nuclear and Project Delivery Team Lead
  • Responsible for all commercial and supply chain risk management and reporting for assigned project procurement activity
  • Demonstrate compliance to all procurement policies and procedures ensuring an efficient and auditable procurement trail
  • Investigate and qualify suppliers, negotiating contracts to ensure that company/supplier relationships are effective and productive
  • Manage supplier performance and maintain performance evaluations with cross-functional input from Engineering and Quality
  • Manage the expediting of all orders/contracts in line with company procedures and Engineering Criticality requirements
  • Manage the import of goods placed on purchase orders placed on supply chain outside of the UK


We are looking for an individual with significant and appropriate experience of collaborative team working within an alliance project team, ideally within Nuclear Industry Sector, but at a minimum within an Engineering and Construction organisation. You will have an HNC (or equivalent) in Business Studies or Mechanical Engineering and/or full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS). Demonstrable experience of implementing and managing the NEC suite of contracts for works, goods and services including the procurement and installation of safety critical equipment and material is a pre-requisite. Knowledge of Border Force importation requirements, especially European Community supply chains, is preferable whilst previous experience of ensuring appropriate strategies and consideration of Incoterms, import duties and taxes to minimise risk to project schedule and delivery dates is required.
