Job Information

The Power Systems Regulatory Engineer provides leadership and technical resources to ensure compliance with global regulations, laws, and directives that address engine emissions, battery-electric equipment, and alternative energy power systems in products marketed by the company. The Engineer also promotes and educates company personnel on the requirements of applicable global laws and regulations and assists with sustainability initiatives supporting the lifecycle management of equipment.

Role & Responsibility

· Maintains knowledge of all applicable regulations, laws and directives regarding engine emissions, battery-electric equipment, and alternative energy sources that affect the company’s products to ensure compliance
· Contributes to the sustainability and recyclability goals of the organization by leading key projects to meet the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives of the business
· Assists company in understanding and carrying out compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, registration, including the transportation and storage of high voltage battery packs
· Continuous collaboration with Engineering and Supply Management
· Plan, drive, design, develop, document, measure, analyze and improve the business’s compliance processes globally and regionally
· Provides technical resource for integrating solutions to meet compliance with regulations into new/existing product designs and processes
· Identifies at-risk power system components and communicates with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Management, and Aftermarket Services to implement appropriate substitutions
· Creates and manages applicable compliance documentation
· Develops and executes appropriate record retention policy for compliance documentation according to company policies
· Generates responses to support inquiries from governmental authorities and customers
· Collaborates with industry groups and internal departments to participate in the regulatory and standardization processes
· Participate in applicable industry association meetings related to areas of responsibility
· Supports the in-house Law Department in defense of any potential non-compliance claims related to emissions from company’s products
· Provides input on interpretation of regulatory requirements, operational impact consideration, and methods to implement requirements
· Serves on project implementation teams implementing alternative power system
· Define Program and Project plans necessary to reach roadmap goals, including
o Process and Integration scope
o Resource & competence requirements
o Project Budget approvals

Job Requirement

· Bachelor’s degree in General Engineering, including Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Agriculture or Environmental
· Experience with regulatory compliance activities involving a manufacturing business
· 5 – 10 years of related experience
· Travel Standard < 25%
· Experience in regulatory compliance for Diesel/Gasoline Engine Emissions, and Battery/Electric Equipment or Vehicles (high voltage systems)
· Experience coordinating projects to identify and implement alternative power systems for equipment
· Knowledge of applicable regulations, laws, and directives regarding engine emissions and alternative power sources found in the business products
· Project Management implementing technological solutions
· Experience with Internal Database Solutions, i.e. Microsoft Sharepoint and Teams
· Understanding of design, manufacturing, and procurement processes
· Ability to analyze and design data collection and analytical processes
· Ability to develop product requirements based on input gathered from a variety of sources including analysis results and feedback from stakeholders
· Ability to develop test conditions and expected results based on the application requirements
· Ability to review project deliverables for completeness and quality, and compliance with established project standards
· Proven experience identifying and managing technical risks
· Analytical mindset and problem solver
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
· Highly computer literate
· Willing to work with distributed and multi-cultural teams

· Participation in Standards Committees (ISO, SAE, etc.) and the US Federal or European Union regulatory development process involving subjects such as engine emissions, batteries, high voltage systems, and/or off-highway vehicle regulations
· Experience implementing and/or maintaining a compliance program in an off-highway manufacturing business
· Experience with Microsoft Power BI & Analytics
· Knowledge and working experience with:
o Activities to obtain approval of changes to existing product offerings associated with emissions-related components
o Familiarity with EU Battery Directive (2006/66/EC and 2013/56/EU) and proposed amendments
o Battery Reuse and Recycling Activities
