Manage a team of in house and contracted writers and support staff responsible for creating manuals, instructions, and other technical documentation to support Bobcat Company equipment.  Participate in product team meetings to identify publications requirements.  Assign projects to writers and monitor their progress to meet project timelines.  Ensure that appropriate standards and work instructions are created to document team processes.  Collaborate with counterparts in Europe and Asia to develop, implement, and maintain global authoring practices and ensure that equipment built in other regions includes the appropriate technical publications for the North America market.  Assist manager to identify, develop, and release special service tools necessary to support Bobcat dealers. 

This position is open to a location of Bismarck, ND or West Fargo, ND and offers a hybrid work arrangement working 2-3 days per week at the office and the balance from home/remote.
 

Role & Responsibility

  • Manage and mentor a team of employees that includes a Publications Technology System Specialist and multiple Technical writers.  Identify and coordinate appropriate training to ensure team proficiency.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams of contract writers to assign publications projects, communicate project requirements, monitor project progress and quality, and ensure that contractors are set up with relevant access to Bobcat Company systems to perform their assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate the translation of Bobcat manuals and technical documentation using internal staff and contract resources.
  • Facilitate the publishing of manuals and technical documentation to electronic service libraries.
  • Coordinate distribution of manuals and technical documentation to external printing suppliers and ensure the quality of those printed materials.
  • Receive and verify billings from suppliers for authoring, translation, and other team support services and arrange for appropriate requisitions to ensure payment for those services.
  • Collaborate with manager, internal service staff, and external suppliers to develop and release specialized service tools to Bobcat dealers.  Develop bulletins to support new tool releases.
  • Monitor emerging technical publications technologies and trends for potential applications at Bobcat.

Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Technical Communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in publications management preferred.  Project management experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of technical writing standards.
  • Knowledge of Bobcat products and dealer requirements and expectations.
  • Strong time management skills and priority focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and coach a team.
  • Innovative spirit.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Travel Required: <10%.
