Job Information

 

Responsible for execution of the overall systems design, development, and integration of mechanical, structural, and thermal systems for hydrogen-based energy systems. Support the system-level Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID). Utilize up-to-date Computer Aided Design (CAD) practices and tools are in place and will also develop analysis capabilities, which includes structural, thermal, and CFD tools. With design engineering expertise, collaborate with other multi-discipline groups. Promote the Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Order Process, ensuring timely, controlled, and compliant design changes. Support multi-disciplinary research and collaboration with CSA, System, MBOP, Electrical, and Manufacturing engineers to pursue and achieve business objectives, on time, at cost with optimal quality. Accountable for development, coaching and mentorship of other team members to support career development and business results elevation. This role will require the use of product development techniques and utilize innovative industry technologies to support new product lines. Will be responsible for several components of a project, or a more complex component of a larger project.

Role & Responsibility

 

  • Design components to meet all functional requirements from concept to production
  • Collaborate with other Engineering functional groups to coordinate design activities and ensure thorough, accurate documentation of components and subassemblies
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and other relevant business entities to coordinate implementation of new designs and develop transition plans to bridge between design revisions
  • Ensure the designs have been validated and thoroughly documented prior to production release
  • As may be required, work with suppliers and fabricators to support generation of low cost, durable designs
  • Consistent use of root cause techniques to determine true root cause and enact mitigation/corrective actions going forward
  • Stay abreast of industry-wide fuel cell design concepts and developments to support leading technological edge, progress, and achievements in the design discipline
  • Able to execute concept generation and down-select of designs
  • Work across multi-discipline groups to lead teams effectively and to share technical knowledge and know-how
  • Ongoing focus on talent management and development of self and others to elevate employee engagement and performance, and to elevate business results

Job Requirement - Education & Experience

 

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of experience
  • MA/MS degree with 7+ years of experience
  • Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Experience with properly executing customer requirements
  • Experience working with a diverse group of business-focused individuals, occasionally on a global-basis

Job Requirement - Knowledge & Skill

 

  • Solid mechanical design engineering background
  • Robust process and systems understanding of complex electromechanical designs
  • Knowledge of or direct Experience in Fuel Cell or Electrolyzer design
  • Design experience with Process Piping Designs (Powerplants, Electrolyzer, Ships, Boilers, Industrial Designs, Generators, Water Treatment, Oil and Gas)
  • Pipe and Tube Welded Assemblies (1" up to 8" Pipe, Tube and Hose) (Steel and Stainless Steel)
  • Experience with ASME B31 Pressure Piping
  • Design of Pressure Vessels and /or Structural Weldments
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to use material and design standards from ASTM, ASME, ISO, AWS, and JIS
  • Strong focus on teamwork and employee development
  • Project leadership experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with, CREO, Windchill, ANSYS and Mathcad preferred
