Sr. Application Engineer Electrics / Electronics

Job Information

Position summary:

Responsible for design, sizing and specifying of electric & electronic components and sub-systems of Bobcat Telehandlers. Also, he is responsible for creation and execution of validation plan of E&E sub-systems in NPD projects  to meet performance and reliability targets, while keeping project schedule, cost and quality under control.

Role & Responsibility

 Design
•    

•    Electrical architecture and components and in particular complex and mobile machinery oriented harnesses
•    Concept design & initial calculations
•    System development plan : schedule, budget
•    Follow up on simulation, lab testing & field test
•    Component requirements documents compilation
•    Development follow up at supplier
•    Risk analysis and system DFMEA lead
•    Ensure adequation between the design and the manufacturing requirements
•    Attend cross functional team discussion
•    Understanding of Bobcat design standards and apply when it is required
•    Being technical reference for his subsystem within NPD team
•    Keeping his technical knowledge up to state of the art to forecast evolutions of his subsystem 
•    Supervise and assess design engineer´s outputs:
          => 3D, 2D, schematics, stack up, design packaging

Validation 

• Elaborate the validation plan
• Support and analyze the result of the tests
• Involved in prototype assembly phase to check and correct design accordingly
• Involved in supplier technical discussions
• Present & defend his work during offical design reviews to call for approval of leadership and subject matter experts

Support  

•    Support by providing expertise inside and outside engineering (other product design functions, marketing, aftermarket, manufacturing, quality, production) 
•    Provide support for test proving ground, laboratory testing and help with troubleshooting
•    Mentoring colleagues on non-senior level

Innovation  

•    Proposal to improve quality of engineering team deliverables
•    Develop tools and processes to improve risk management, machine quality and cost

Job Requirement

Education & Qualification:

Education Required: 
•     Engineer’s Degree in Electric&Electronics field or equivalent
Experience Required: 
•    > 3 years
Travel Required:
•    < 5%

Knowledge & Skill:

•    Electric & Mechanical engineering in mobile applications
•    CAD skills (Creo Preferred)
•    Working knowledge of systems – specifically bills of material structure and organization of models and options
•    Precision/care in auto control of his work
•    Knowledge of engineering practices and standards
